About

South Vancouver Island Potters Guild [S.V.I.P.G.] members meet to support, educate and motivate fellow artists working in clay. The Guild manages a library of relevant books, video tapes and DVD’s, produces a monthly newsletter, organizes monthly programs on a range of related topics, facilitates workshops, coordinates a guild members’ Show & Sale each June, arranges exhibitions, maintains a website at www.victoriapotters.ca and advertises local pottery events.

The Guild began in 1999 and today has over 70 members, covering the area extending from Cowichan to Sidney to Sooke. Our membership ranges from Fine Art graduates to self taught potters, and runs the gamut from novice to professional artists. We welcome anyone with an interest in the ceramic arts. Annual Membership fees: Individual - $25; Family Studio $35.

The Guild is a group member of the B.C. Potters Guild and the Community Arts Council of Greater Victoria and participates in various initiatives of these organizations. Guild members meet the second Monday of each month (except July and August) at 7:30pm, at the St Michael’s Anglican Church hall, 4733 West Saanich Road, Victoria. The Guild does not have a permanent location.

The guild also supports Souper Bowls of Hope - an annual event that helps raise funds for the Youth Empowerment Society [YES] Summer Opportunities Program for youth at risk in the downtown core. The event attracts hundreds of supporters that pay $25 for lunch: selecting a hand-crafted bowl to dine on soup made by master chefs, listen to local musicians and participate in both live and silent auctions.
